Improving care of Early Breast Cancer (EBC) patients in Europe Investigators Meeting

12.03.2025 - 12.03.2025Vienna, AT
Background
In 2023/2024, Sharing Progress in Cancer Care (SPCC) conducted the “Improving Care of Early Breast Cancer (EBC) Patients in Europe – 2023/2024 RFP Project.”

This activity, supported by Eli Lilly and Company in collaboration with SPCC, aimed to convene healthcare professionals and innovative organisations to identify gaps in the treatment of Early Breast Cancer and develop strategies to enhance care and address those gaps. The objectives of the initiative included facilitating the involvement of patients, caregivers, and families in collaborative decision-making, as well as employing evidence-based educational strategies aligned with the desired outcomes of the intervention.

The initiative attracted interest from 14 projects (from Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland). From these, an independent review panel established by SPCC selected the two winners, which were awarded grants for a total of $ 500,000 USD.
The implementation phase of the selected projects is scheduled to occur from Q2 2024 to Q4 2025.
Further details regarding this project can be found here.

Given the significance of these projects, a one-day event will be held in Vienna on 12 March 2025, bringing together representatives from the winning institutions.

Objective of the meeting
Delegates from the awarded institutes will provide an overview of their work to colleagues, the Expert Panel Reviewers, as well as representatives from Eli Lilly and Company and SPCC Management. Their presentations will emphasise key milestones and offer updates on the most recent progress of their respective projects.
The event will be held behind closed doors, and the outcome will subsequently be published on the SPCC website.
